Mark Barton's research interests span field, lab and theoretical approaches to mass transfer in the crust with a focus on mineral systems and their societal relevance.

Current students:

Most research projects involve students with a focus on the Southwest, including porphyry, IOCG and gold systems, abandoned mine lands and tailings, and sediment-hosted systems on the Colorado Plateau and in the Great Basin.
