Research Scientist III

Sanaz joined the program as a research scientist and project manager in May 2023. Since then, she has spearheaded the abandoned mine lands project funded which aims to tackle the environmental and public health issues associated with abandoned mining sites. Additionally, she has been collaborating with colleagues in Mining & Geological Engineering to leverage hyperspectral remote sensing technology for the identification of acid mine drainage, a critical environmental concern. 

Her research interests include the application of machine learning techniques to geology, particularly in the predictive modeling of unknown mine sites.
